As a core consumable component of printers, ink cartridges require precision manufacturing and quality control to ensure stable ink storage, delivery, and ejection. The following are the key production steps:

1. Raw Material Preparation and Pretreatment

Ink cartridge production begins with the selection of high-quality plastic pellets (such as ABS or polypropylene) that meet standards for chemical resistance and impact resistance. The ink is then formulated and adjusted to ensure color saturation, drying speed, and compatibility. After drying, the raw materials enter the injection molding stage.

2. Injection Molding

A precision injection molding machine heats the plastic pellets to a molten state, injects them into a mold under high pressure, and cools them to form the cartridge housing. This step requires strict control of temperature (typically 180-250°C), pressure, and cooling time to avoid deformation or sink marks. Mold precision directly impacts the seal during subsequent assembly.

3. Component Assembly

The molded housing is then assembled with components such as the filter, chip, and sponge. The filter filters impurities from the ink, while the sponge regulates the ink flow. The chip is pre-programmed with information such as the model and ink volume, allowing for precise bonding via automated equipment. Some cartridges require welding of the ink outlet, using ultrasonic or heat-melting technology to ensure a seamless connection.

4. Ink Filling and Sealing

In a dust-free environment, ink is injected into the cartridge cavity using a metering pump, with an accuracy controlled within ±1%. After filling, the ink outlet is sealed with a silicone gasket or aluminum foil to prevent leakage and drying out. Some models require vacuuming to prevent air bubbles from affecting print quality.

5. Quality Inspection and Packaging

Finished products undergo airtightness testing, chip functionality testing, and inkjet consistency inspection. Defective products are automatically rejected by a vision system. Acceptable products are disinfected with ultraviolet light, packaged in anti-static packaging, labeled with the model and expiration date, and finally stored.

Ink cartridge production integrates material science, precision machinery, and automation technology. Every step requires strict control to ensure printing reliability and environmental compatibility.
